Asia Cup 2022: Dilip Vengsarkar slams team management, says ‘experimenting in Asia Cup, a bad decision’

Asia Cup 2022: Rohit Sharma’s men are out of the competition after Pakistan defeated Afghanistan in a low-scoring nail-biter. Former Indian selector Dilip Vengsarkar is not happy with the Indian team management as he believes the team is doing a lot of experiments in the biggest tournament in Asia. Rohit Sharma & Co. are now out of the tournament with Pakistan beating Afghanistan in a low-scoring thriller.

Vengsarkar criticized the decision of changes in the line-up in almost every match in a big multi-nation tournament. He added that experiments can be done in the bilateral series but not in a big tournament like the Asia Cup. Also, there is not much time left for the World Cup.

Asia Cup 2022: The team should be finalized by now

The former legendary cricketer was clearly not happy as he believes that if the experiments are going on at this stage, this means the team is not finalized as of now. Several big teams like Australia and South Africa have already announced their squads, with India still looking to make combinations. He stated that the Asia Cup is not a tournament where you can try out combinations. It is one of the biggest cups in the history of cricket.

Deepak Hooda in place of Dinesh Karthik is a wrong pick

With Dinesh Karthik in such sublime form, one would want him to play as many matches as possible to maintain his touch before the World Cup. His exclusion from the Super 4 stage was a surprising call. Hooda might be an all-rounder, but the experience of Dinesh Karthik can always do wonders for the team.

Ravindra Jadeja’s injury at the crucial moment

Nothing could be worse than the injury of the best all-rounder in the squad. Jadeja has been in great form, and injury at this stage is definitely a point to think about. Though Axar Patel has been an option for the side, Jadeja is more of a refined character in the squad. If the southpaw doesn’t make it to the World Cup squad, the pressure would be immense on the shoulders of Hardik Pandya.
