Asia Cup 2022: A cricket match is full of emotions and excitement. It will not be a wrong statement to say that when you are playing for your country, it is just impossible to control yourself. That’s what happened in a match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. On Thursday, these two teams locked horns in a knock-out game of the Asia Cup 2022 to qualify for the Super Four. Both teams gave their all in order to win the game.
But in the end, a couple of errors by Bangladesh cost them the game. And it was Sri Lanka, who held their nerves in the crunch situations to pull off a must-win contest to secure their place in the tournament. The match went to the wire and Sri Lanka were slightly better as they won the game by 2 wickets. They registered their second highest chase in T20Is and scored 184/8 in 19.2 overs.
Asia Cup 2022: Watch Sri Lanka’s “Naagin Dance” celebration
A lot of things were said prior to this match from both camps. That’s why the intensity of the match was so high. Bangladesh dominated most of the game, but the last two overs of the second innings cost them the game. Sri Lanka needed 25 runs off the last two overs. But Ebadot Hossain and Mahedi Hasan, who came out to bowl on the 19th and 20th, didn’t bowl as per the plan. Both bowlers bowled a few no-balls, which resulted in extra runs with free-hits.
And Sri Lankan lower-order batters used those free-hit balls to maximum effect. And as they hit the winning runs, all the players from the Sri Lankan camp looked animated. All-rounder Chamika Karunaratne was spotted doing the infamous “Naagin dance” celebration.
