Sourav Ganguly and the BCCI are on the receiving end after the announcement of the squad for the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia. Former India player Harbhajan Singh had urged the selection committee to include Umran Malik, who is the fastest Indian bowler at the moment.
He said Umran could be India’s trump card on the wickets Down Under. However, the five wise men didn’t include the 22-year-old, who was on song for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League 2022.
He played three T20Is for the Men in Blue but was dropped after failing to take wickets. Malik was expensive as well.
Here’s how his fans reacted:
“Ye Rishabh Pant damad hai kya Ganguly ka? Why ignore Sanju Samson and Umran Malik? Why is 19th over bunny Bhuvi getting a chance and Shami in standby? The same mistake of Asia Cup,” one of the fans wrote.
“Umran Malik, Sanju Samson Australia ke pitch me sabse jyda effective hote magar nahi khilaya inko , Australia me 145ki speed ka bowler chahiye na ki , 130 ka Bhuvi aur Harshal , Bhuvi, Harshal, Sky, DK ye log sabse bekar player hai, DK always kamzor bowler against run karta hai.”
“BCCI can you tell us? Why did you ignore India’s top quality fast bowlers like Umran Malik and Mohammad Siraj on fast pitches like Australia?”
“Sanju Samson and Umran Malik should have been selected for T20 WC. Australian pitches are more bouncy and support pace. Umran would be more effective there.& Sanju can play well as well. BCCI will regret it later.”
