Former India player Robin Uthappa said that Rishabh Pant doesn’t deserve to be a part of the T20I setup. India played with Karthik in the first match against Pakistan but he was dropped in the Super 4 stage contest against the same opponent.
Uthappa said that he would prefer Karthik over Pant as he is a finisher. He also said that the 24-year-old’s best position in the T20 team is when he bats in the top four.
“I am with DK as he can play the role of a finisher. Pant has got success when he batted in the top four. You can give the No.5 spot to Deepak Hooda,” said Robin Uthappa.
“Right now, there is no place in the top four for the southpaw. Why are the Men in Blue playing him just because they have to include him in the Playing XI? Don’t we want Rishabh to perform under the circumstances he plays in? You would want him to play in a position that is good for him, not in a position that keeps him under pressure.”
