Naseem Shah has been sensational for Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022. He made his T20I debut in the tournament and has contributed with the ball and bat.
However, his family was against his passion. Speaking to a Pakistani TV channel, Naseem’s father, Abbas Shah, recently revealed that he never wanted his son to become a cricketer and even used to beat him for neglecting his studies.
“I beat Naseem many times for playing cricket as I wanted him to concentrate on his studies. None of us supported him but his brother would secretly give him money,” he said.
“When his mother was alive, he used to say that one day he will represent Pakistan in international cricket. We used to make fun of him, saying how will man from Dhir will play for Pakistan,” he added.
Abbas also spoke about how Naseem gets emotional remembering his mother, who passed away in 2019.
