England Test team’s head coach, Brendon McCullum revealed that he never wanted to coach the Ben Stokes-led squad when the job was first offered to him.
He was the head coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. The former Kiwi captain said that he is enjoying his job with England, despite not wanting it.
“Well, I wasn’t interested in the job when it was offered to me. But, I am loving it now. It is different to what I have done in the past,” he said.
“I am loving the opportunity to work with some of the best players in the world. I always thought about the talent English cricket has and after working with the guys, I am sure they can take England’s team to success,” he added.
Under the mentorship of McCullum and the leadership of Ben Stokes, England haven’t lost a Test series in the summer.
“I have enjoyed working with Ben Stokes. He is a rare human being and an incredible person.”
