‘In the first 3 overs, he can get India 2-3 wickets in Australia but he is not in the team’

Former India captain Kris Srikkanth has questioned the absence of Mohammed Shami from India’s T20 World Cup squad, saying the pacer would have done well on the fast and bouncy tracks of Australia.

Shami is a part of the standby group but he is not there in the main squad. Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel have returned after recovering from injuries.

Shami has not played any T20I for India since the last edition of the T20 World Cup in the UAE. However, Srikkanth said it’s unfair to leave Shami out of the scheme of things in the slam-bang version of the game.

“Mohammed Shami should have been there. He can get bounced in Australia as he has a high-arm action. In the first 3 overs, he can get 2-3 wickets in Australia,” he said.

Jasprit Bumrah, Harshal Patel, and Arshdeep Singh are good bowlers. The 4th seamer should have been Shami. He has done well in Australia,” he added.
