IND vs PAK: Parents Reveal How Arshdeep Reacted to All That Social Media Criticism

IND vs PAK: Being a cricketer is very tough. A load of expectations is huge when you represent your country at the highest level. And it happens sometimes that a little error ends up as one of the biggest points of criticism in your career. That’s what we saw after the India-Pakistan match on Sunday. The Men in Green registered their biggest chase against India after winning the match by five wickets. The Indian bowling couldn’t defend a big target of 182 runs.

Pakistan made 182/5 in 19.5 overs, with the help of Mohammad Rizwan (71 off 51) and Mohammad Nawaz (40 off 20). But once these two got out, India got the chance to come back into the Indian side. However, the turning point came in the 18th over, when Ravi Bishnoi was bowling. Arshdeep Singh dropped a relatively easy chance of Asif Ali, who ended up scoring 16 off 8 balls and helped Pakistan reach the target.

Although, the 23-year-old bowled an amazing last over when he had just seven runs to defend. He took the match deeper than expected. But that dropped chance didn’t go down well with some fans and critics. As a result, the pacer had to face a huge backlash on various social media profiles. The trolls blamed the 23-year-old for the loss of India on Sunday. However, the pacer didn’t post anything on his social media account since then. But now Arshdeep’s parents have revealed how the pacer felt about the trolls and what he said. In the latest discussion with The Indian Express, his father, Darshan told,

Arshdeep’s mother, Baljeet, also said that the pacer has said that the Indian team is supporting him. His father went on to say that it is always hurtful when such trolls criticize him at such a low level, especially since he is only 23 years old. Daljeet said that winning and losing are a part of the game, and in such situations, there will be a few who will support you and some who will be up against you.

India’s future in the Asia Cup now depends on the remaining two games. They are in a do-or-die situation and must win against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. Their next match is against Sri Lanka on Tuesday in Dubai.
