IND VS SL Watch: Chahal Receives a Kiss From Kohli After the Wicket

IND VS SL: India’s former captain Virat Kohli is one of the most expressive members of the team. It has been noticed time and again that he never fails to appreciate any batter, bowler, or fielder when they do well. One such incident was noticed during the India vs Sri Lanka game. Team India was under pressure while defending the target of 174 runs and Yuzvendra Chahal provided the team with the much-needed breakthrough.

After winning the toss, Sri Lanka decided to bowl first. India once again failed to start well and lost both openers KL Rahul and Virat Kohli at the beginning of their innings. Captain Rohit Sharma kept the scoreboard ticking with his brilliant 72 runs from 41 balls, however, others looked completely out of touch. Nonetheless, the batting team somehow managed to cross 170+ runs score by end of the 20 overs.

Yuzvendra Chahal takes wicket of Kusal Mendis

Coming out to chase the target, the Sri Lankan batters seemed very confident and sure of their batting right from the word go. The Indian bowling unit was yet again playing in the absence of Avesh Khan and R Ashwin replaced Bishnoi in the squad for the game. Sri Lanka made full use of the powerplay and was 57 for zero. They lost their first wicket on the first ball of the 12th over. Yuzvendra Chahal’s proved to be crucial for the game as he picked up Pathum Nissanka first and then Charith Asalanka in the same over.

The chasing seemed to be on the back foot as they lost a couple of quick wickets. Back in the 15th over of the game, Chahal picked his man, the dangerous-looking Kusal Mendis. This wicket gave the team confidence and a grip on the game. Pleased with the performance of Chahal, Kohli couldn’t contain his happiness. Delighted, he kissed Chahal on the forehead. Unfortunately, the wickets came late and the damage was already done.

With 7 runs to defend in the final over, it was a nail-biting finish with Sri Lanka emerging victorious. The loss has affected team India’s chances of the finals. They will now face Afghanistan in their last game of the competition. Whereas, Sri Lanka is in a solid position to be the finalist.
