Former India batter Rohan Gavaskar said that Team India’s batting needs to revolve around Suryakumar Yadav if the Rohit Sharma-led side wants to win the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Gavaskar added that SKY should be given the right to decide his batting position in the lineup.
Suryakumar played a stunning unbeaten knock of 68 runs off 26 balls in the Asia Cup 2022 match against Hong Kong. “I have been saying this for a while. Allow Suryakumar Yadav to choose his batting position if you want to win the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. He can bat anywhere,” Rohan Gavaskar said while speaking exclusively on SPORTS18’s daily sports news show ‘SPORTS OVER THE TOP.
“Ask him where he can create the most impact. Does he feel that batting at 3 or 4 would bring out his best? Give him a free hand as he i9s the best player in the team,” he added.
He lauded SKY for his exceptional batting against Hong Long when all the other Indian batters struggled to time the ball properly.
