Asif Ali and Fareed Ahmed would have hit each other had they not been separated by other players during Pakistan and Afghanistan Super 4 stage match in Sharjah.
Fareed dismissed Asif and said something from behind, which didn’t go well with the batter, who lifted his bat to hit the bowler.
The ICC has fined them for breaching the code of conduct. Afghanistan fans caused a ruckus in the stadium and hit Pakistani supporters with chairs.
Shoaib Akhtar was furious with the behavior of the fans but he refused to accept that even Asif was wrong on his part.
Instead, he took on India for getting angry on the whole issue. He felt Afghanistan’s defeat didn’t sit well with India as they were hoping to get a favor from the Mohammad Nabi-led team, which didn’t happen.
“Why is India getting angry when the matter is between Pakistan and Afghanistan? Actually, Pakistan won, which crushed India’s chance of making it to the tournament’s final,” he said.
