Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akthar wants Virat Kohli to break Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 centuries in international cricket.
Kohli’s form has been a cause of concern but the veteran has shown sign of returning back to his best in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022.
The Indian star scored 35 and 59 in the first two games against Pakistan and Hong Kong but he looked scratchy and Akhtar agreed to it.
Kohli hasn’t been middling the ball well and Shoaib suggested him to wait until the World Cup this year to see if the T20 format suits him or not.
“His innings against Pakistan and Hong Kong were patchy. He should wait until the ICC T20 World Cup to see if this format suits him or not. He has to score 30 more centuries,” said Shoaib Akhtar.
Akthar also said that Kohli can become the greatest player ever and said that in longer formats he can take time to settle down.
“You can become the greatest player ever. This is going to be hardest 30 tons if he scores. Virat is positive and aggressive but I really want him to score 100 hundreds and break Sachin Tendulkar’s record. It looks impossible right now, but this man can do it,” he added.
