Former India player S Badrinath compared Naseem Shah to legendary Javed Miandad after he hit two consecutive sixes to win the game for Pakistan.
Needing 11 off 6 balls with just one wicket in hand, Afghanistan were favourites to register their first win in the Super 4 stage. However, Naseem’s two lusty blows took the Men in Green to the finale.
Javed Miandad had hit a six on Chetan Sharma’s last ball to win a close game for his country.
“Naseem Shah did a Javed Miandad,” Badrinath wrote.
Earlier, Babar Azam won the toss and invited Afghanistan to bat first. Mohammad Nabi-led team accumulated just 129/6 in 20 overs.
Pakistan had a chance to win the game easily but clever bowling from the rivals almost spoiled their plans.
While Fazalhaq Farooqi and Fareed Ahmad took three wickets each, Rashid Khan added two.
Pakistan will meet Sri Lanka in the final on September 11.
