Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan couldn’t contribute as an opening pair in the Asia Cup 2022, with captain struggling for form.
Rizwan was the highest run-getter in the tournament but Babar’s failure with the bat was behind Pakistan’s three defeats including the all important finale against Sri Lanka.
Former Pakistan player Aaqib Javed has made a big statement on the opening of Azam and Rizwan.
He feels the 27-year-old should opening the innings with Fakhar Zaman.
Aaqib further said that Rizwan should bat at No.4 slot. “Opening duo of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan will not make you win tournaments. Bring Rizwan at four and let Fakhar Zaman open with Babar Azam. Shan Masood can bat at three while only one can play out of Khushdil Shah, Iftikhar Ahmed and Asif Ali.”
