Rahul Dravid’s honeymoon period is over – Former player warns the head coach of the consequences if he fails in big events

Former India cricketer and selector Saba Karim said that Rahul Dravid’s honeymoon period as head coach is over after the team was eliminated from the Asia Cup 2022 in the Super 4 stage.

Saba pointed out that big events like ICC T20 World Cup and fifty-over World Cup will be very crucial for the future of the Indian coach.

India may have won many bilateral series under Rahul, but the Men in Blue failed to defend their Asia Cup title and suffered close defeats to Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

“Rahul Dravid knows that his honeymoon period is over, and it’s time to act and give results in big tournaments. This is crunch time for the head coach.

“With the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia, fifty-over World Cup in India, Dravid will have to make sure that India wins a title,” said Karim on the ‘Sports Over The Top’ show on Sports18.

Karim further spoke about the results under Dravid’s coaching. “He would have loved to win a Test series in South Africa and the fifth Test in England. He knows the challenges he will encounter as a coach shortly. He can only be called a successful coach if he wins the ICC titles and the overseas Test series. If the plans are executed properly, he will be a happy coach,” he added.
