After months of experimentation and squad rotation, the BCCI, on Monday, released the list of their preferred 15 players for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
The squad is identical to the one in the Asia Cup 2022. However, Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel have been included on the side.
The fans expressed their anger over the omission of Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan.
Sanju and Ishan looked were strong contenders but couldn’t make it to the squad.
Even Umran Malik and Rahul Tripathi failed to impress the selectors.
Umran got the opportunity to represent his country, while Tripathi, unfortunately, is yet to make his international debut.
Notably, the 31-year-old had a great season with the bat in the IPL 2022. He amassed 413 runs and was recalled for the T20I series against Ireland and the ODIs against Zimbabwe.
Speaking with Sportskeeda, Tripathi opened up on being ignored by the selectors and said he takes everything positively.
“I am happy that among so many good players, I am getting considered by the selectors. The best thing to do is to wait. The time will come, and I must continue to bat as I do.”
“Similarly, to anyone, when you get selected in the squad, you want to play, and I hope it will happen soon.”
