Rohit Sharma achieves a record that Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli couldn’t 

Rohit Sharma has become the first Indian cricketer to complete 1000 runs in the Asia Cup.

The 35-year-old is the third cricketer to touch the mark. Sanath Jayasuriya (1220) and Kumar Sangakkara (1075) are ahead of the Indian captain.

He was dismissed after scoring 72 off 41 balls with the help of 5 fours and 4 sixes at the Dubai International Stadium. 

Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and invited India to bat first. The Men in Blue lost two early wickets, with KL Rahul scoring 6 and Virat Kohli departing for a duck. 

After losing the first game of the Super 4 stage against Pakistan by 5 wickets, India need to win the game against Lanka to stand a chance to qualify for the tournament’s finale.
