After a disappointing exit from the recently concluded Asia Cup, the Men in Blue have shifted their attention to the upcoming T20 World Cup, which starts on the 16th of October.
Before the World Cup, India will host Australia and South Africa for two white-ball bilateral series as a part of their preparations for the mega event.
India will host the Aussies for three T20Is from 20th – 25th September, followed by three T20Is and 3 ODIs against South Africa.
As per reports, the World Cup-bound players, including Virat Kohli and skipper Rohit Sharma would be given rest for the fifty-overs series.
Shikhar Dhawan, who has emerged as the first choice for a stand-in skipper in ODIs, will lead the team in Rohit’s absence.
The news comes from a source within the BCCI. He handed over the information to ANI. Further, VVS Laxman will be the head coach for the series.
The 36-year-old Dhawan led India to a clean sweep against West Indies in the ODIs and would be looking to do the same against South Africa.
