Mohammad Rizwan was Pakistan’s top performer in the Asia Cup but couldn’t lead his team to success. Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by 23 runs in the finale at the Dubai International Stadium.
On the other hand, Babar Azam scored just 68 runs at the event, and his form would be a concern before the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.
Rizwan and Babar are the number 1 and 2 batters in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings.
Meanwhile, former Pakistan captain Salman Butt refused to compare the two batters with Rohit Sharma.
Butt said Rohit would have been on par with AB de Villiers if his fitness were half as good as Virat Kohli.
“Unka (Rohit) comparison nahi banta (with Babar and Rizwan). With his skills, Rohit ki fitness Kohli se aadhi bhi ho, toh usse zyada destructive player nahi hai. Fir uska aur sirf AB de Villiers ka match reh jaata hai, beechme koi player nahi aata. Agar woh (Rohit) bohot fit hotey Kohli ki tarah toh pata nahi woh kya kartey,” he said.
Rohit will be captaining the team in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022. The Men in Blue will start their campaign with an October 23 blockbuster against arch-rivals Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
