Captain Rohit Sharma couldn’t answer the questions in the press conference correctly. He gave a big excuse when asked about India’s poor track record in big tournaments.
Terming such events as difficult, considering different oppositions, he said that in Bilateral series, a team plays matches against one team, but in a tournament like Asia Cup, the games are with different rivals, which are not easy.
“We won a couple of bilateral series as you compete in three or five matches against one team, and you know about them, but in a tournament like Asia Cup, there are different rivals, and things become difficult,” he said.
His statement sounded more of an excuse than accepting that the Men in Blue played poor cricket and regular changes in the Playing XI impacted the team’s performance. India will take on Afghanistan in the remaining one game of the Asia Cup 2022.
