Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi has confirmed that his daughter was waving the Indian flag during the Super 4 stage match between India and Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium.
He clarified after being asked why his daughter waved the Indian flag.
According to the legendary player, the stadium was full of Indian supporters, and even the Pakistan flags were available. So she decided to wave the Indian flag.
Afridi was hesitant to share the video first on social media, considering the consequences.
“My wife told me that the stadium was full of Indian fans and Pakistan flags were unavailable. So my daughter decided to wave the Indian flag,” he said.
For the record, the Men in Green won the match by 5 wickets to hand India their first defeat of the tournament. Earlier, the Rohit Sharma-led team had thumped the arch-rivals in the group stage.
