Toh kya mai khud beth jaun? KL Rahul after being asked if Virat Kohli should open the batting for India in T20Is

KL Rahul was at his hilarious best in the post-match presentation ceremony after India’s win over Afghanistan in the last game of the Asia Cup 2022.

He was asked by a journalist about the possibility of Virat Kohli opening for India after his first T20I hundred while playing as an opener. Rahul’s reply made everyone laugh as he said – “Toh kya mai khud beth jaun? (So what? Should I sit out?)”

Praising Kohli for his landmark ton, KL said Virat has been working really hard, and it is good for him ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup.

“Virat played brilliantly, and we all have seen how he has performed for the team over the years. Batting slots are not important to him, and he has prepared hard for the last few series. It is good for every player to get good innings under their belt before the ICC T20 World Cup. Virat’s role will be different in the next series from the Asia Cup,” said KL Rahul.

The 33-year-old amassed an unbeaten 122 off 61 balls and hit 12 fours and 6 sixes in his knocks.

He also ended his three-year wait for an international ton, and his tally now stands at 71, the same number Ricky Ponting has. Only Sachin Tendulkar (100) is ahead of him.
