Despite Virat Kohli scoring a century as an opener, former India player Gautam Gambhir was not convinced with Kohli’s batting spot.
Opening the batting in the absence of Rohit Sharma, Virat ended his century drought and ended up scoring 122 off 61 balls, with 12 fours and 6 sixes in Dubai.
Kohli was stuck on 70 hundred since 2019 before today’s game against Afghanistan and made full use of the opportunity.
The 33-year-old constructed his knock beautifully and went after the bowlers after settling his nerves. “Virat Kohli should bat at 3 in the T20 World Cup,” said Gambhir during India’s batting.
The Men in Blue reached 212/2 in 20 overs, with stand-in captain KL Rahul contributing 62 off 41 balls. He hit 6 fours and 2 sixes.
