Virat Kohli thanked his wife Anushka Sharma for saving his career and dedicated his first T20I hundred and 71st overall to her and daughter Vamika. Virat came to the Asia Cup 2022 after a long break and looked a different batter from the first game against Pakistan.
Before his ton, he had already hit two fifties in the tournament, with one each against Pakistan and Hong. He kissed his wedding ring after reaching the milestone.
“I am standing in front of you today because of Anushka Sharma. She has been a pillar of strength and stood by my side during the most challenging period of my career. I dedicate this hundred to her and our daughter Vamika,” he said.
Kohli was unbeaten on 122 runs off 61 balls, laced with 12 fours and 6 sixes, which took India’s total to 212/2 in 20 overs. Apart from him, stand-in skipper KL Rahul accumulated 62 off 41 balls with the help of 6 fours and 2 sixes.
