Gautam Gambhir was not satisfied despite Virat Kohli and Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s exceptional performances against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup 2022.
While Virat scored his first T20I hundred, his 71st overall, Bhuvneshwar took five wickets and conceded 4 runs from his 4 overs.
Gambhir said Virat’s century shouldn’t be judged as his return to form, but a player’s feel-good factor should be considered.
However, Waqar Younis was not satisfied. According to him, Virat was never out of form, and it was just a matter of time before he converted his start into a big score. He lauded Virat for his magnificent hundred.
For Bhuvneshwar, Gautam went to the extent of demanding his exclusion from the ICC T20 World Cup as he didn’t bowl well in the death overs in the Asia Cup 2022.
Also, the veteran said that Bhuvi’s 5-wicket haul shouldn’t be a parameter for his selection in the global event in Australia.
Waqar didn’t like the comment and said Bhuvi is a world-class bowler, and one or two games don’t make him bad.
He complimented the Indian bowler as one of the best in white-ball cricket, who deserves a spot in the World Cup squad.
