The Men in Green had a good Asia Cup and were eyeing their 3rd continental trophy but lost to Sri Lanka in the final.
Poor fielding and batting were the biggest letdowns in the final for Pakistan. During the whole campaign, the form of captain Babar Azam was under the scanner.
The 27-year-old had a disappointing tournament. He amassed 68 runs in six innings and averaged just over 11 per innings.
Unlike Virat Kohli, Babar was in sublime form coming into the tournament. In June against West Indies, he created a world record of scoring 9 consecutive 50+ scores in all formats.
Thus, Babar’s underwhelming performance shocked the fans. Many supporters took to Twitter to troll Babar for his performance.
Here are some of the reactions.
A fan compared Babar to the team’s tail-enders and said that Shahnawaz Dahani and Naseem Shah averaged higher than Babar.
A fan took a dig at Babar by posting, ‘This too shall pass a message, the one Babar tweeted for then out of form Virat Kohli.
Compared to Babar’s previous big event, which was the 2021 T20 World Cup, he struck 303 runs in six innings. Further, it was Babar’s 2nd worst T20I series in his career. His worst came against Bangladesh last year, where he averaged just 9.
