Former opener Aakash Chopra believes Yuzvendra Chahal is the only wicket-taking spin option in India’s ICC T20 World Cup squad.
India picked three spinners- Chahal, R Ashwin and Axar Patel – in the 15-man team.
However, Chahal was not impressive in the Asia Cup and could take only 4 wickets at an economy rate of 7.93.
Chopra said Ashwin and Axar are defensive bowlers. “India have picked three spinners – an offspinner, a legspinner and a left-arm spinner. So you have three different types of bowlers, but Yuzi Chahal is the only legit wicket-taking option in T20 cricket,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
“The two others are defensive options. You can see their numbers and how they bowled in IPL 2022,” he added.
Chopra further pointed out that Ravi Bishnoi or Kuldeep Yadav would have been good for the team.
